Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common major organ malformation, affecting nearly 1% of all births.Thrombosis of major vessels or cardiac chambers is a frequent complication of patients with CHD, yet most published thrombosis rates are underestimates since screening is not routinely done in asymptomatic cases.Prospective trials which so involve screening by imaging studies report prevalences from from 20 to 42.5%.Reported morbidity and mortality are also very high.
