The effect of modified plasticizer in filter by the addition of polyethylene glycol 200 on the elective removal of phenol from cigarette smoke was studied.The results showed that modified plasticizer filter had high ability of selective removal of phenol in tobacco smoke.The more the modifier in plasticizer,the higher effect on the percentage phenol removed.Optimal result was obtained in the case that the modifier in plasticizer was 15%,where phenol was significantly reduced up to 20.19%,whereas the delivery of Tar was nearly unaffected(only reduced by 2.63%).This finding is significant for the selective removal of harmful components in tobacco smoke.
