Mostnatural Shallow Water submarineHydrothermal activates (SWH) along coastlinesarerelated to hydrothermal eruptions involving heating of groundwaterwith the volcanic gas.These SWHs supplynutrientssuch as phosphorus and micro nutrients like ironto the euphotic zone,contributing to the overall natural fertility and primary productivity of coastal waters.However, SWHs also have a negative effect, dispersing toxic materials such as mercury and arsenic,and affecting the acidification of the surroundingwaters.
