While the churn is on within the transformation of technology,putting the intent to expand the education domain beyond traditional boundaries is the top priority,particularly well-suited to the K-12 ELL(English Language Learning)environment.To date,tablet Pcs have become a powerful instruction device,both highly customizable and intrinsically motivating,for students to read and write(Robins,2008).To assist young ELLs(English Language Learners)to cultivate efficient English learning strategies,students in the current study were guided to read online storybooks and then write their own digital stories with the Android applications.The present study aimed to investigate the effects of utilizing digital reading and writing instructional module to promote young learners English literacy.The one-group pretest and posttest experimental design was used in this study.Twenty-five sixth graders at an elementary school were recruited.The subjects,conducted with theme-based learning task,received digital reading and writing instruction for 12 weeks(80 minutes per week)."Reading Comprehension Test," "English Learning Motivation Scale," and "English Writing Checklist" were used as instruments for collecting data.Paired-Sample t-test was used for statistical analysis.The results showed that digital reading and writing instructional module was effective in enhancing young ELLs reading comprehension skills,learning motivation and writing abilities.The results demonstrated the improvement in English literacy.The study had pedagogical implications on the value and feasibility of language teaching in promoting young ELLs English literacy by using digital reading and writing module,and the limitations of the study were provided.
