EFFECT OF FAR INFRARED RAY ON THE FUNCTIONAL COMPOUNDS CONTENTS OF KENAF(HIBISCUS CANNABINUS L.) LEA

  This study was investigated far infrared ray on kenaf leaves which contain much amount of antioxidant compounds and produce functional health tea,the contents of minerals.The total flavonoid content of kenaf leaf extract according to far infrared application time and temperature is as follows.When the leaves were infused in 80℃ distilled water,the content was 1.3~1.9 times higher in the 60℃ treated group than in the untreated group,and 1.2~1.4 times higher in the 80℃ treated group than in the untreated group.The DPPH radical scavenging activity of kenaf leaf extract according to far infrared application time and temperature is as follows.When the leaves were infused in 80℃ distilled water,the extract showed high scavenging activity of over 92% regardless of treatment with far infrared ray.Total polyphenol and flavonoid were the highest,when irradiated at 60℃ for 30 and 45 minutes.
