A prototype of ground based airglow imaging interferometer(GBAII)had been made by our group to observe the upper atmospheric wind velocity and temperature at an altitude of 90-100km,but the GBAIIs wind speed accuracy was found to be unsatisfactory at 21 m/s before observation. In order to improve GBAII wind speed accuracy, three aspects are investigated in this paper: By replacing the surface coatings of the GBAIIs 6 lenses and MI(Michelson interferometer)with the infrared film rather than the visible light film, the wind speed accuracy can be increased by 3 m/s.
