　　Background: Aberrant DNA methylation plays a significant role in tumorigenesis which can be induced by folate deficiency of diet in colorectal cancer (CRC).Some DNA methylation alterations can be reflected in cell-free circulating DNA (circDNA) ,making circDNA an ideal noninvasive biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.However, what DNA methylation alterations is induced by folate deficiency exactly and whether these alterations is a valid noninvasive circulating biomarker for CRC are still unclear.
