Carnations have the nature which is easy to cause bud mutation,including petal color change.However, the mechanism of the petal color change has been unknown.The petal hue is affected by the component of flavonoids.A mutant of cultivar group,MINAMI series, consisted of various petal colors was used.Cyanic cultivars of MINAMI series have the high level of pelargonidin 3,5-malyldiglucoside (Pg3,5MdG), one of anthocyanin.
