Klebsiella pneumoniae is a common cause of solid organ abscess in immunocompromised patients.Endogenous endophthalmitis is a well-known complication of Klebsiella associated liver abscess.However, there are very few reports on this condition in patients with renal abscess.We report two patients under our care, who developed endogenous endopthalmitis after drainage of renal abscess.A retrospective review of morbidity associated with renal abscess management in our institution was performed between January 2014 and December 2014.There were twenty eight patients who presented with renal abscess during this period.We review the clinical presentation and outcomes of patients who developed visual impairment in this group of patients.
