Spherical Nanocellulose Formates as Green Fillers to Improve Crystallization and Mechanical Property

  The green nanocomposites of poly(lactic acid)(PLA)with various spherical nanocellulose formates(SCNFs)contents were prepared by solution casting method.It is found that the SCNFs act as an effective nucleation agent for crystallization of PLA.A study of the isothermal crystallization kinetics further illustrated that overall crystallization rate of PLA in the nanocomposites was faster than that of neat PLA.Furthermore,the tensile strength and Young' modulus increased by 130%and 116%for the nanocomposites with 10%SCNFs(mass fraction)compared to the neat PLA,respectively.
