Prior research in reference to the h-index and its complementary measures largely focused on a single indicator.However,research performance is a complexly multifaceted elaboration that usually cannot be assessed adequately relying on a single indicator.It is usually attractive to use a combination of those several obtainable different indicators in order to achieve a global outlook of the scientific output of the institute being evaluated.In this paper we present a new index,called h1h2-index,to characterize the scientific output of the top 24 institutes active in the field ofnanobiopharmaeeuticals.The h1h2-index is based on both h1-and h2-index to try to keep the advantages of both measures as well as to minimize their disadvantages.The new h1h2-index provides a more balanced outlook of the scientific output of institutes than the h1-and h2-indices individually An empirical example shows the good performance of this measure.This paper still introduces another approach offering additional information based on both the h1-and h2-index.Our approach can enhance the accuracy of the research output measurement by rendering information about an institutes citation distribution through comparing with h1h2 lower (the low impact area),h1h2 center (the area captured by h2-indices),and h1h2 upper (the area of publications with the highest visibility).
