Purpose: TO explore the relation between the chemical composition of Baizhi and sulfur-fumigation time and dosage.Methods: The relation between the chemical composition of Baizhi and sulfur-fumigation time and dosage was analyzed by HPLC fingerprint and chemometrics methods, such as similarity analysis (SA),hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA).The HPLC conditions were as follows: chromatography was carried out on Diamonil C18 column; the linear gradient elution was performed with acetonitrile and water; column temperature, the injection volume of sample, the flow rate, the detection wavelength and the testing time were 30 ℃, 20 μL, 1mL/min, 310 nm and 75 min respectively.Results: Sulfur-fumigation can damage the chemical composition of Baizhi.Even thoughsulfur-fumigation time and dosage dropped to very low level such as 25 g (sulphur)/10 kg (Baizhi) and 2 hours, these effects were also obvious.Conclusion:The sulfur-fumigation was not a desirable method for field processing of Baizhi even though sulfur-fumigation time and dosage were short and a little.
