Generation of highly active,specific and enantioselective biocatalysts is of increasing interest for industrial processes.That leads to the necessity of reliable high throughput screening methods suitable for the desired enzyme reaction.A new approach is the screening of whole cell arrays,where no decomposition of cells and no further cleaning steps are necessary,was developed by the "Research Centre Applied Biocatalysis".To achieve a high throughput analysis of those spot arrays (cell colonies arranged in a regular grid) we were assigned to develop a software tool with an intuitive graphical user interface.This tool enables a fast evaluation of the kinetic properties of every single cell colony (spot).Since the images are very noisy in a first step a Gaussian filter is applied for quality improvement.
