This paper reviews the replacement of two railroad bridges in Middletown, PA.The bridges were built off site and transported to the final location via self propelled modular transporters (SPMT).The use of SPMTs along with modifications to the foundation design allowed the contractor to complete both bridge installations in a single 72 hour weekend, an improvement to the 3 week suggested construction schedule in the bid documents.
