Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex(PDHc)is already known as a site of action of herbicides [1],however so far none of the inhibitors of pyruvate dehydrogenase was developed as commercial herbicide.In order to find herbicidal activity compound as a novel inhibitors of PDHc,α-(Substituted phenoxyacetoxy)alkyl phosphonates I with good herbicidal activity as lead structure have been founded in our previous work.On the basis of the previous work for alkyl phosphonates I [2],further synthetic modifications were made by introducing a furanyl group to structure I.A series of 1-(substituted phenoxyacetoxy)furanylmethylphosphonate derivatives Ⅱ were synthesized as potential inhibitors of PDHc.The herbicidal activity for post-emergence of title compounds Ⅱ was evaluated in a set of experiment at greenhouse and the efficacy of some compounds Ⅱ in vitro against PDHc was also examined.
