The presence of fluid-filled "inclusion" cysts is a known risk factor for epithelial ovarian carcinogenesis.Cysts resembling human cystadenomashave been observed in ovaries from incessantly ovulated CD-1 mice from 6-months of age [1].Most are dilated rete ovarii tubules, however the genetic and environmental factors responsible for cyst formation remain to be investigated.Ovaries of mice of a variety of strains were therefore compared with those from 8-month CD-1 mice on high and no soy diets, to determine the relative contributions of strain and dietary phytoestrogens on ovarian inclusion cyst formation.Incessant ovulation was induced in CD-1 mice from weaning until 8-months of age.
