Development and Innovation of MLS Technology in South Africa and China Last Decade

　　There are a serial of MLS(Mobile Load Simulator) technologies in South Africa.It started at Stellenbosch, Western Cape in 1991.Last decade, APT(Accelerated Pavement Testing) systems have experienced obvious changes and substantial progress.In this paper, a third scale of MLS and a full scale of MLS are introduced.At present, both South Africa and China have owned almost a half of total numbers of MLS devices in the world.The MLS development was impacted by these real needs in research fields and industrial applications.It has had a unique principle to simulate the trucks and moving loads.It was recognised that the scope of APT is mainly covering most of factors which act on pavement materials and structures.This paper gives the main features of the 1/3 MLS in South Africa and full scale MLS which have applied in China.
