Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) that lacks the expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), progesterone receptor (PR) and over-expression of human epithelial growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) is a type of highly aggressive breast cancer that frequently metastasizes to brain, lung and bone..Currently, there are no effective treatments for TNBC because its pathogenesis has not been well defined.The pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) is a metabolism pathway that supplies the cells with a majority of (NADPH), an essential cofactor for biosynthesis of fatty acids and other important biomolecules and anti-oxidative responses, and with ribose, the key precursor for nuclear acid biosynthesis.
