bsorption of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the western of Taiwan Strait was investigated in summer and winter of 2006-2007. CDOM optical properties of absorption at 280 run showed an increasing trend from offshore area to nearshore area, and the mean CDOM absorption in summer and winter were 1.10?.41 and 1.47?.50 (m-1) respectively. The mean of spectral slope coefficient (S) calculated by non-linear regression at wavelength ranged from 275nm to 295nm was 0.0306?.0055 and 0.0267?.0052nm-1 respectively. The distribution characteristics of CDOM are the interaction results of water masses and continental runoff from Fujian Province, but the marine hydrology is the main control factor.
