Objective To study the pretention of total flavones of buckwheat flowers and leaves (TFBFL) on liver in the type 2 diabetic rats and try to find its mechanism.Methods: The model of type 2 diabetic rats was made by injecting streptozotocin (STZ) and giving high-fat diet.The diabetic rats were randomly divided into model group (T2D), low dose TFBFL rats group (L-TFBFL), high dose TFBFL rats group (H-TFBFL) and XiaoKe Wan group (XKW).Fasting blood glucose (FBG), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malonaldehyde (MDA) and advanced glycation endoproducts (AGEs) were measured in different groups.Results: The results of FBG value indicated that the type 2 diabetic rats were established successfully.TFBFL can inhibit the raise of FBG、TC、 TG、MDA and AGEs level in the type 2 diabetic rats but can also increase the SOD level in liver.Conclusion: TFBFL can protect the damage of liver in the type 2 diabetic rats through affecting the level of TC、TG、AGEs、 SOD and MDA in liver.
