  In this study, a sliver-catalyzed bioleaching of low-grade copper ores from Yongping, China, has been carried out in shake flasks.The effects of inoculation, [Ag],pulp density, nutrient medium, pH and [Fe3+] were investigated.The addition of silver and an inoculation with microorganisms had a markedly catalytic effect on the extraction of copper.Small amounts of silver dramatically accelerated the copper dissolution process while large amounts had an inhibitory effect on the extraction of copper and the growth of microorganisms.The high extraction of copper copper was appeared at pH1.5, pulp density of 2.5wt% and inoculum volume of the nutrient medium 40vol%.Furthermore, the bioleaching of low-grade copper ore requires a minimum anount of the nutrient medium to obtain the maxium efficiency.
