A cross sectional survey of risks for stroke in an elderly population in Beijing, China

　　Prevention and treatment of stroke is significant in eiderly populations in Chinese communities.This study was designed to explore the stroke risk in an elderly population in Beijing,China and the practical importance of early prevention and treatment.A cross sectional survey,from June 1th,2009 to June 1lh,2010,was carried out in Beijing,China.The complete data of 2 102 elderly were selected to carry out the analysis.Odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (Cl) from Logistic regression model was worked out by SPSS 13.0 software.Age,smoking,family disease history of stroke,history disease of hypertension,coronary heart disease,diabetes mellitus,body mass index,weight hip ratio,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,fasting blood glucose were found to be associated with stroke.Compared with other studies,the effects of some traditional risk factors were unclear and needed to be further investigated.
