The study of coordination polymer is a new field for supermolecule chemistry.Coordination polymer constructed from organic ligand and metal ion,which connected by non-carbolic (N,S,O,etc) coordinated bonds and form at least one-dimension network structure.It may be applied in selected catalysis,molecular recognition,reversible exchange of host-guest molecules (ions),super purity separation,biological conductor[1-3],etc.In this paper,a complex with the ligands 1,10-phenanthroline and azide was synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction,elemental analysis (EA),infrared spectra (IR),thermogravimetric analysis (TG),and so on.The title complex [Zn(N3)2(C12HsN2)2] with formula C24H16ZnN10 was synthesized by solvothermal method under low temperature in yield 41.29%.Elemental anal.calcd.for [Zn(N3)2(C12H8N2)2]:C,56.49; H,3.14; N,27.46%.Found:C,56.32; H,3.54; N,26.86%.IR(KBrdisc,cm-1)v:3337 (w),3047 (w),2038 (vs),1623 (m),1579 (m),1516 (s),1426 (s),1333 (m),1101 (m),842 (s),727 (vs). The result of lR spectrum of the title complex is corresponding to the single crystal X-ray diffraction and the characteristic absorb band is located in 2038cm-1 and 1101cm-1.Single crystal X-ray diffraction study revealed that the Zn(Ⅱ) complex belongs to triclinic system,space group P(-1),with unit cell parameters,a =8.2084(15) (A),b =11.055(2) (A),c =12.513(2) (A),a=82.834(3) °,β =81.935(3)°,γ=73.107(3)°,V=1071.5(3) (A)3,Z =2,Dc =1.580 g/cm3,μ =1.184 mm-1,F(000) =520.The final R =0.0295,ωR =0.0747 for 3325 observed reflections (Ⅰ>2a (Ⅰ)),S =1.100.In the title compound,Zn(Ⅱ) ion is six coordinated with two N atoms from two N3-ions,four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline molecules,forming a distorted octahedral coordination environment.The N3-are non-bridging and single-dentated,but 1,10-phenanthroline are bidentated.The three dimensional structure is formed by π-π stacking interaction of inter layer of two 1,10-phenanthroline molecules.The TG curve indicated that the Zn(Ⅱ) complex is stable below 573K.
