In this study,we have completed the simulation of CO2 removal process contained in the synthetic gas stream by using several physical solvents.PRO/ii with PROVISION release 9.1 at Invensys was chosen for the simulation of Rectisol process,PROMAX release 3.2 at BR&E was selected to simulate Selexol and Purisol process.NRTL activity coefficient model was selected for the simulation of liquid mixture phase behavior,Peng-Robinson equation of state model was used to explain the vapor phase non0idealities and Henrys law option was chosen for the estimation of CO2 gas solubilities in liquid solvent. We used methanol as Rectisol process,DEPG(Dimethyl ether of polyethylene glycol) as Selexol process and NMP(N-methyl 2-pyrrolidone) as Purisol process.Through this study,it was concluded that initial capital const and operating cost are lowest when we selected a 99.7 wt% of NMP as a physical solvent for removal of CO2.
