Background Hypertensive cardiomyopathy is a very common disease and could not been solved by using anti-hypertensive drugs alone.Vinpocetine has been widely used as a cerebral blood flow enhancer.However,its role in hypertensive cardiomyopathy remains unexplored.We investigated the effect of vinpocetine on ameliorating hypertension-related left ventricular dysfunction and remodeling in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and focused on the mechanisms of inhibiting sympathetic adrenergic system (SAS),which induced pathological hypertrophy in vivo and in vitro.
