Gray leaf spot (GLS), caused by the fungal pathogen Cercospora, is one of the most serious foliar diseases of maize worldwide.Genetic diversity of 29 isolates of Cercospora, which isolated from different geographic regions in China, were analyzed by ISSR.In this study, a total of the 81 bands were amplified using 10 pairs of primers.The length of these bands ranged from 200 ~ 2000 bp and all of them were polymorphic.At similar level of 0.19, all isolates were clustered into two distinct groups.Strains isolated from maize collected from southwest and northeast clustering into different groups,indicated relatively abundant genetic diversity of Cercospora in China.ISSR analysis revealed the phylogenetic relationship and genetic differentiation of the isolates of Cercospora tested in this study.
