　　We propose coincidence and common fixed point results for a quadruple of self-mappings satisfying compatibility and subsequentially continuity(alternately subcompatibility and reciprocally continuity)in metric space X under a generalized Φ-contractive condition.An example and an application,for the solution of certain nonlinear Volterra integro-differential equations,are given to illustrate the usability of the obtained results.
