　　Tryptanthrin(Try),a natural alkaloids.8-bromo-try dimmer(1)and novel octahedral complex [Fe(8-Br-Try)4](2)have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions in DMF and characterized by IR,1HNMR,13CNMR,ESI-MS and X-ray single crystal diffraction.The reaction was proposed to undergo 1,2 and 1,4-addition reduction of the conjugated system of O=C-C=N in the pyrimidine and indolinone rings of Br-Try and followed by the dehydration of hydroxyl groups to give a tryptanthrin dimmer.It was found that 2 exhibited selectively stronger binding to G-quadruplex DNA than to duplex DNA as an effective G-quadruplex binder.
