Lampropedia Omphisa sp.nov., a novel bacterium isolated from the gut of the larvae bamboo borer Omph

  A novel aerobic bacterium,designated strain BRTC-2T,was isolated from the gut of the larvae bamboo borer Omphisa fuscidentalis in the Xishuangbanna city of China.Cells of Strain BRTC-2T were observed to be Gram-stain negative,non-motile,non-spore-forming and rod-shaped.The optimal temperature and pH for growth were 30 ℃ and pH 7.5,respectively.Strain BRTC-2rwas found to be able to grow at 0 to 10 %NaCl (w/v) (optimum: 1.0 %).The major fatty acids of strain BRTC-2Twere identified as C16∶0,C 16∶1 ω7c/C 16∶1 ω6c and C 18∶1ω7c.The main polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol,diphosphatidylglycerol,phospholipid,phosphatidylethanolamine and one unidentified Lipid.The predominant menaquinone was identified as Q-8.The G+C content of genomic DNA was 68.2 mol% as determined by the Tm method.The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity analysis indicated that strain BRTC-2T was closely related to Lampropedia puyangensis CFCC 10925T and Lampropedia.hyalina CFCC 10824Twith 97.2 % and 96.4 % sequence similarity,respectively.The DNA-DNA hybridization value between strain BRTC-2T and L.puyangensis CFCC 10925T was 40±0.8 %.On the basis of its phenotypic,phylogenetic and chemotaxonomic characteristics,strain BRTC-2T is concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Lampropedia,for which the name Lampropedia Omphisa sp.nov.is proposed.The type strain is BRTC-2T.
