　　Myelin sheath can offer insulation of a neurons axon that avoids the electric interference from near-by neurons.Besides,it makes the action potential(AP)travel faster along a myelinated axon than an unmyelinated one.Experiments observed AP transportation speed along a myelinated axon is proportional to the radius of axon with fixed aspect ratio,while the speed is only proportional to the square root of radius of axon along an unmyelinated one.
