to tackle the issue of polluted bottom material,deteriorated water quality and serious degradation of ecosystem in the Wuli Lake in the west of the Tai Lake,a series of experiments has been conducted in the guideline of controlling pollution sources and reducing pollutants in combination with ecosystem restoration,and demonstration projects have also been carried out on a certain scale for a period of five years.The experiments concentrate on further reduction of nutritive salt,restoration of lake bottom matters,amelioration of the physical and chemical environment of the water body,reconstruction of aquatic ecosystem and regulation of ecosystem,with specific focus on study of the eco-restoration technology on improving lakefront environment by ecological floating bed,water level control,time and space control of aquatic flora and combination of aquatic animals and plants,etc.The effect of the demonstration engineering indicates that with the foregoing experimental results and technologies,the water quality in the demonstration area is improved visibly,the overall coverage of aquatic plants increasing to about 30% from barely zero level,while coverage in the demonstration area averaging 75%.Meanwhile,the index of biodiversity is substantially improved.
