Ceramic foams have been studied as radiant burners, thermal insulators and recently as catalytic filtration medium. These foams are used as nanostructured catalyst supports that increase the retention of particulate material present in diesel engine emissions. In this study the deposition of hematite(Fe2O3)and titania(TiO2)onto ceramic foams(support)for treatment of engine emissions was studied employing two different coating techniques: synthesis of Fe2O3 using urea and deposition of TiO2 nanometric powders.
