Hyperbranced polymers (HBPs) are the fourth major polymer architecture following the linear, branched and crosslinking polymers, and have attracted more and more attention from the scientific and engineering points of view. However, due to the difficulty to control the degree of branching (DB) of HBPs,the studies on the structure and property of HBPs are greatly lagged behind.Previously,we found the DB of hyperbranched polyether can be well-controlled by the reaction temperature, which make it possible to investigate the structure/activity of HBPs.We have found that with the increase of DB,crystallinity and Tg decrease, while free volume increases.Very recently,we also found the thermoresponsive phase transition and the self-assembly behaviors are highly related with the DB of the polymers. These findings have expanded the understanding of HBPs,and may provide a theoretical foundation for the applications of HBPs.
