Nanotechnology and biomimetics is an emerging field focusing on the development of new therapeutic strategies which can replace damaged or diseased tissue and restore body functions.Researchers have adopted a powerful route for constructing nanostructures, microstructures and macrostructures with functionality via molecular self-assembly.Using the principles of molecular self-assembly we combined state-of-the-art peptide chemistry and design to develop hydrogels which may potentially be used to mimic natural tissues and act as intelligent drug delivery systems.
