The selective oxidation of hydrocarbons under mild conditions is of great interest in academia and industry. In nature, metalloenzymes, such as heme and nonheme enzymes, can catalyze a diverse array of important oxidative transformations under mild conditions.Inspired by the high reactivity and selectivity shown by enzymes,a number of synthetic model compounds that mimic the functionality of metalloenzymes have emerged as promising catalysts in the oxidation of organic substrates.
