In-depth understanding of the mechanism of virus infection is the basis for prevention and treatment of viral diseases.Labeling techniques with organic fluorescent dyes and fluorescent proteins are usually used for tracking the infection process of viruses. However, the fluorescence of the commonly used dyes and fluorescent proteins is not strong enough and also easy to subject to photobleaching, thus it is difficult to realize long-term dynamic tracking of the whole process of the infection. We have made full use of some superiorities of quantum dots [1-6] to develop methods for real-time dynamic tracking of the whole process of virus infection. Some mild labeling techniques have been developed to label the envelope, capsid and nucleic acids of enveloped viruses [4-6].An algorithm of fast and high-accuracy localization for three-dimensional single-particle tracking has been proposed [7].Based on these,a method for effectively and efficiently dissecting the infection of viruses has been established [3-6].This presentation will focus on how to unveil the infection mechanism of viruses by our quantum dot-based single-virus dynamic tracking technique.
