Aluminosilicate glass was strengthened by ion-exchange for lightweight bulletproof windows.The conditions for ion-exchange for strengthening aluminosilicate glass (3, 5 and 8 mm thick) produced the ultimate mechanical properties at 450℃ for each duration of 16, 22 and 30 h.The flexural strength values of the ion-exchanged glass with thickness of 3, 5 and 8 mm were 0.845, 0.893 and 0.930 GPa, respectively, which were about 3.5 times higher than parent glass.
