在头颈癌的个案，很多时候会遇到非常复杂的病例，尤其是接受过电疗的病人。在肿瘤切割和重整的手术，目的是要确保肿瘤完全清除，随后重建令病人恢复功能和有一个满意的外观。在这个过程里，每一个步骤也很重要，需要很周详的计划。若有一个步骤出错，可以引致严重的后果。
