A recent experimental study reveals that the gold-carbenes have an unprecedented chemoand site-selectivity toward the functionalization of C-H bond of phenol.To understand the chemo-and site-selectivity of gold-carbenes,we performed a combiend theoretical and experimental study on the mechanisms of the insertion of gold carbenes into the C-H and O-H bonds of phenol.
