Supercritical (SC) fluid chromatography, mostly with carbon dioxide as a mobile phase, is used to measure the thermodynamic properties such as retention factor and diffusion coefficient for instance, by the chromatographic impulse response (CIR) method. When the entrainer is not added, it is not easy to obtain the symmetrical peaks of polar compounds experimentally even by using various stationary phases, and the reproduction of asymmetric peaks is limited with a linear adsorption model.
