The diversity and dynamics of ultra-size protists(<5 m),especiall y eukaryotic ultra-size protists in coastal waters and estuary kept less known for their small size and difficult in culture.Photosynthetic pigments analysis and molecular techniques including ARDRA and DGGE for analyzing small subunit ribosomal RNA(SSU rRNA or 18S rRNA) gene were applied to study temporal and spatial distributions of pigment composition and genetic diversity of ultra-size protists community.By CHEMTAX calculation based on diagnostic pigment, bacillariophyta, prasinophyceae, cryptophyta and chlorophyceae were found being dominant groups of ultraphytoplankton, while prochlorophyta was not detected all time.Community structure was kept stable in same cruise, however, seasonal variation was prominent.
