　　Most nonsmooth problems are piecewise smooth.Then they have a piecewise linear approximation.We consider the results of successive piecewise linearization applied to various computational tasks,in particular equation solving,(un)constrained optimization and the numerical integration of Lipschitzian dynamical systems.
