A terbium(Ⅲ)lanthanide metal–organic framework(264-Tb-MOF),exhibiting a strong green luminescence was successfully constructed by utilizing a bi-functional ligand 4-{bis(4-benzoic)amino}-4H-1,2,4-triazole(H2L),with 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole(Hatz)serving as the template reagent. In the structure of the 264-Tb-MOF,the triazole groups remain uncoordinated. The uncoordinated triazole groups can be used as functional groups, which are feasible to anchor and recognize metal ions and small organic molecules. To our delight, fluorescence measurements indicate that the 264-Tb-MOF is capable of selectively and sensitively detecting not only for Fe3+,but also for MnO4-,Cr2O72-,CrO42-,as well as nitromethane in aqueous system. Moreover, this MOF present high selectivity and sensitivity towards nitroaromatic explosives in both aqueous and vapor phases. Therefore, the 264-Tb-MOF could be a promising multi-responsive sensor material, which is potentially used for sensing metal ions, small organic molecules as well as nitroaromatic explosives. The mechanism of the sensing properties was also based on a detailed study.
