Addition reactions of aroyl chlides with alkynes, first reported by Miura and Nomura, proceed with extrusion of CO.1 On the other hand, chloroformates, alkoxalyl chlorides and fluorinated acid chlorides undergo neat addition without decarbonylation to afford β-chloroalkenyl carbonyl compounds in high yields.
