European doctrine is based on the development of the science-based Bioeconomy.By 2030, this Bio-based Economy is expected to have grown significantly in Europe, having as a main pillars biorefining, the processing of biomass into a spectrum of marketable products and energy in a sustainable way.The new generation of biorefinery operations will expand from products like food, biofuels, paper and board, to a broader, more mature sector.In 2030, bio-refineries will use a wider range of feedstocks and will produce a greater variety of end-products than today.
