BACKGROUNDS & AIMS:Except acid secretion, gastric parietal cells can also produce a substantial amount of dopamine (DA).In vivo study has suggested the involvement of DA in the gastric acid secretion, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We have previously reported that DA receptors were absent in the parietal cells, but abundant in gastric chief cell, which suggests that DA might regulate gastric acid secretion indirectly.
