INTRODUCTION In this paper we want to start a trans-disciplinary conversation about longevity and design.To do that we are going to talk about the rising of social innovation concept, beginning from the wider concept of innovation.By looking at society challenges and designers possible approach and answers, we choose as a focus the issue of long living societies,which is one of the main topic at the basis of the creation of the so-called Smart Cities.
