Quantum spin liquid is an exotic Mott insulating state.It has an odd number of electrons per unit cell but has no electron Fermi surface, thus violating the "Luttinger theorem".It has low energy spin degrees of freedom but the spins do not order even at zero temperature.In recent years several promising spin liquid candidate materials have emerged.
