Since the terrorist attacks on "9 · 11",the safety of occupants in buildings has been reconsidered in importance for the design and operations of buildings.Generally,release of chemical,biological,and radiological(CBR) agents are most concerned for the design and operation of heating,ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC) systems as they may reduce or increase risk depending on their operation.Some issues related to how to control CBR agents release should be considered by HVAC engineers during the design process.As the design of buildings and HVAC systems in response to the release of a CBR agent is a multidimensional problem,risk management method is introduced in the design process to improve the safety of the HVAC systems.
