Five dihydrochalcones including phlorizin, trilobatin, 3-hydroxyphloridzin, sieboldin (3-hydroxytrilobatin) and phloretin 2-xyloglucoside were isolated from the fruit of Malus Red Splender.The chemical structures of these five compounds were elucidated by ESI-MS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR.Two kind of aglycones, phloretin and 3-hydroxyphloritin, were produced by hydrolysis form phlorizin and sieboldin,respectively.The antioxidant abilities of these seven compounds were examined by DPPH and ABTS assays.
